Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She is also an accomplished public speech writer. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that investigates representations of women in the popular media narratives. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes about women and how they appear in popular media. In addition she has a mission to increase awareness of online harassment directed at women, and other those who are marginalized. Holding a master's degree in political and social thought from York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after speaker and she has delivered talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. At a young age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by issues of gender identity and feminist thinking. When she was still in school, in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency Website. In 2009, the ebullient young woman was slammed by the Internet for starting a web featuring a series about gender and videogames. The harassment didn't discourage her. It only strengthened her in her role as a feminist journalist. Her notable contributions to the field of feminist are recognized with numerous prizes.
